SEISMIC HAZARD This image shows the relative shaking intensities of the Circum-Pacific region, as indicated by the value of peak ground acceleration, in centimeters per second squared. Areas have a 10 percent chance of exceedence within 50 years, and an almost 100 percent chance over 475 years. Brown and red areas are likely to experience extreme shaking intensities, and green areas are likely to experience low shaking intensities. The file 'COLORMAP.JPG' (located in 'HAZPAC_ARCVIEW\DATA\IMAGE') contains a legend for this image. The original grid theme was downsampled to 2.5-minute by 2.5-minute resolution before conversion to a JPEG image. The data are from the Global Seismic Hazard Assessment Program (1999).
