Download GIS data
The map data were developed in ArcGIS and require version 8.3 or higher of this software to make fullest use of these data. The map and its database data may also be viewed, queried and browsed using a free program ArcReader 9.1, which is available for download for Windows, Linux and Solaris operating systems.
Downloading choices:
1) Download a 190 Mb package including 1:24,000 USGS base maps.
(Recommended if you use ArcGIS but need some kind of base materials for this area, and essential if you're using ArcReader because it's the only base map you'll be able to use.)
2) Download a 0.3 Mb package including only ArcGIS files for the Hayward fault map.
(Recommended if you can provide your own base maps, e.g., you may view and query these files in ArcReader but have no base map for reference.)
After you've downloaded (and unzipped data package):
1) Using ArcGIS, view map by opening file: "ds177.mxd"
2) Using ArcReader, view map by opening file: "ds177.pmf."
