Scatter Plots of Currents

Skip past contents information

Scatter plots are simple graphical pictures of the magnitude and direction of the current. The scatter plots show the hour-averaged and low-pass-filtered east and north current at ~5 m, ~22 m, and ~31 m for the point current meter observations at LT-A; and at ~5 m, ~15 m, and ~22 m at LT-A and at ~5 m, ~10 m, and ~17 m at LT-B for the ADCP observations. The low-pass-filtered data are subsampled by 6 (every sixth point shown). The principal current ellipse (see Principal Axes for an explanation of how these are calculated) is superimposed on the scatter plot in red. The figure for each year shows all the data collected during that year. The measurements often do not cover a full year.
