Revision History for Data Series 760 Geophysical Log Database for the Floridan Aquifer System and Southeastern Coastal Plain Aquifer System in Florida and Parts of Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina Lester J. Williams, Jessica E. Raines, and Amanda E. Lanning ----------------------------------------------------- Posted online April 4, 2013 ----------------------------------------------------- Revised and reposted December 30, 2016, version 1.1 Page i. Version information has been added: “Version 1.1, December 2016.” Page ii. “Suzette M. Kimball, Acting Director” changed to “Suzette M. Kimball Director.” “First release 2013, Revised: December 2016 (ver. 1.1).” added. In the suggested citation, version information was added, and the URL was changed to http://dx.doi.org/10.3133/ds760. Page iii. In the table of contents, the subheading "Database and ASCII Text Listing" was changed to "Database File Information." In the list of tables, the title of table 4 was changed from "Listing of tables and field in the geophysical log database" to "Listing of files and fields in the geophysical log database.” Page 1 The URL in the first paragraph of the introduction was changed to http://dx.doi.org/10.3133/ds760 The following paragraph was added to the introduction as the last paragraph: "The geophysical logs presented here were collected over many decades. Because of this, the scales and (or) methods of presentation may not be consistent with current (2016) scales or presentation methods. For example, logs may now be shown with a logarithmic scale or a scale reversed from that collected to enhance the user’s ability to identify geophysical responses associated with specific rock types, minerals, or water quality. Prior to the introduction of digital computing, such manipulations were rarely done. Therefore, it is suggested that users of older logs be familiar with scale or presentation changes over time, as discussed by Frank (1986), who also discusses pitfalls that users should avoid when interpreting older geophysical logs." Page 4 The URL in the first paragraph of the page was changed from http://pubs.usgs.gov/ds/760/ to http://dx.doi.org/10.3133/ds760. In the first paragraph, the first sentence was revised to read as follows: The 4,883 logs contained in the database (http://pubs.usgs.gov/ds/760/) were collected in 1,248 wells and obtained from several sources. Page 5 The table was changed to include the description of the Laterlog 8 (focused resistivity log with the Code of LL8). A few minor spelling corrections also were made. Page 7 In the figure 4 caption, the word “pattern” was misspelled and has been corrected. Page 10 The first heading on this page was changed from "Database and ASCII Text Listing" to "Database File Information." In addition, the paragraphs under this heading were changed to reflect the change in available file formats (the Microsoft Access files were removed) and the names and organization of the information in the files and the file names. Page 11 The title of the table was changed from "Listing of tables and field in the geophysical log database. varchar, variable length character field; double, double precision numeric field" to "Listing of files and fields in the geophysical log database." In addition, the content of the table was changed to reflect the changes in the text-based database structure. Lastly, the Description and the Note columns were updated to help readers better understand the content of the data files. Back cover doi URL added and spine title updated to include version information. Data file revisions The readme.txt file documents the changes made to the files and database originally published in the report. This file is located in the Downloads directory shown on the report Web page and can be accessed using the link on the report page. -----------------------------------------------------
