This database contains five ARC/INFO coverages in ARC export format (.e00) and ARCVIEW shapefile format, FGDC compliant metadata in ASCII format (metadata.txt) describing the data structure and content, and this README file.

This database is not intended for the purpose of reproducing the map plate which is available as a printable PDF file over the internet or as a folded paper map (printed on a four-color press) through U.S. Geological Survey Information Services (1-888-ASK-USGS).  It contains the raw geologic data portrayed on the map, but does not include the supplemental text and figures or basemap data (which is available as a downloadable TIF image with associated world files for georeference from the same location as this database).
