  This update is on the Web only.  It consists of updates to 
     the database (Of98_466.mde) that include maps and 
     photos of deposits, deposit information, and a 
     geochemical model.  The new maps and photos of the 
     deposits can be found in the "Maps and Photos" 
     section.  Photos include SEM photos of ore rock, as 
     well as photos of the deposit itself.  The geochemical 
     model can be found in the "Geology and Geochemistry" 
     section.


  Version 1.2, June 2, 2000

  PDF text (Of98_466.pdf) was not modified, but several 
     modifications and additions were made from version 1.1 
     to version 1.2 to the Access Database as follows:  (1) 
     Tables were updated with more accurate latitude and 
     longitude locations and new occurrences were added for 
     the sedimentary rock-hosted gold deposits under the 
     "GEOGRAPHY" section.  The original number of 114 
     occurrences in version 1.1 is now 165 occurrences in 
     this version 1.2 and the more accurate locations are 
     now useful for spatial analysis.  (2) New Scanning 
     Electron Microscope (SEM) photographs of polished 
     sections from gold ores were added under the "MAPS & 
     PHOTOS" section.  A link to these SEM photographs also 
     was added under "MINERALOGY" (found under "GEOLOGY").  
     (3) Geochemistry tables were added for gold ore 
     specimens collected in 1997 (Hebei, Guizhou, and Gangzi 
     Provinces) and in 1999 (Shanxi, Sichuan, and Yunnan 
     Provinces) under the "GEOLOGY & GEOCHEMISTRY" section.  
     Other miscellaneous editorial adjustments have also 
     been made in version 1.2.  This version uses Microsoft 
     Access for Office 2000 and no longer supports Microsoft 
     Access for Office 97.
