This directory should contain six (6) 1:250,000 Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) of Puerto Rico. 
They are projected into the Geographic Coordinate System, WGS 84 spheroid. The DEMs were downloaded from the USGS 
US Geodata website at (http://edcwww.cr.usgs.gov/doc/edchome/ndcdb/ndcdb.html). The file dem4.avl is an ArcView legend file. 
This file can be loaded in the directory  "symbols" for those who have a version of ArcView on their machine.
 The symbols directory may be found, for example, in a path such as c:\avgis_30\arcview\symbols, although the path 
will vary depending on where ArcView was installed on a given machine. dem.avl can be loaded in ArcView under THEME...
EDIT LEGEND, for each of the DEMs. This will display the elevation data in a manner more informative 
and appealing than the default legend. 
The naming convention for the files generally contains pr (Puerto Rico), a descriptor such as sw (southwest), and dd 
(decimal degrees). So, pr_edd would correspond to a 1:250,000 DEM covering the eastern section of Puerto Rico in
decimal degree units ( & Geographic coordinate system).
