====================================================================== U. S. Department of the Interior, U. S. Geological Survey Program BOMCRATR for Crosswell Radar and Seismic Tomography Daryl R. Tweeton (of the former U.S. Bureau of Mines) Open-File Report 00-454 URL: http://greenwood.cr.usgs.gov/pub/open-file-reports/ofr-00-0454/ ====================================================================== 1. Overview Before the U.S. Bureau of Mines closed, several of its geophysicists developed computer programs to process crosswell seismic and radar data. To make these programs readily available to the public, the programs and the associated reports are stored as USGS Open-File Reports on a website operated by the U.S. Geological Survey. This particular open-file report pertains to the program "BOMCRATR" and the report "BOMCRATR -- A curved ray tomographic computer program for geophysical applications" (Tweeton and others, 1992). The program executes on a personal computer using the DOS operating system; the program is not maintained. This file 'OFR.TXT' describes (a) The contents of the zip file (section 2). (b) Software needed to read the report (section 3). If you want some additional information regarding BOMCRATR, please contact: Daryl Tweeton Telephone number: (952) 423-3838 Fax number: (952) 926-5498 E-mail tweetond@tc.umn.edu ====================================================================== 2. Contents of the Zip File The files for the program and the associated report are stored in bomcratr.zip, which is a compressed file. Software to uncompress this zip file is available at http://www.winzip.com. File Remark ------------ --------------------------------------------- bomcratr.exe bomcratr.for bomcratr.in fielddat.bom fileddat.pre prebconv.exe prebconv.for prebmcra.exe prebmcra.for prebmcra.in synthdat.bom synthdat.pre synthdat.ray synthdat.sum tomoplot.zip This file contains an executable program (and some associated files) which are used to plot tomograms. ofr.txt This file contains a copy of this open-file report. ri9411.pdf This file contains the report "BOMCRATR -- A curved ray tomographic computer program for geophysical applications," which has extensive information on the program. ====================================================================== 3. Software Needed to Read the Report File "ri9411.pdf" can be read only with the program "Adobe Acrobat Reader," which may be obtained for free at http://www.adobe.com. System requirements for Acrobat Reader 4.0 for Windows: i486 or Pentium processor-based personal computer Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3 or later 8 MB of RAM on Windows 95 and Windows 98 (16 MB recommended) 16 MB of RAM on Windows NT (24 MB recommended) 10 MB of available hard disk space ====================================================================== 4.
