Open-File Report 01-266

Multibeam Bathymetry Data

This Open-File Report contains the bathymetry data from the 2001 multibeam surveys of the major deltas of Southern Puget Sound, Washington. The data are provided in two formats (ASCII XYZ and ArcInfo GRID) that can be used in a number of GIS and other software packages.

ASCII XYZ format

The data are available in ASCII XYZ (x-coordinate, y-coordinate, depth) format. Click on either the duw4m.zip, puy3m.zip, or nis3m.zip links below to download the data. The files are compressed with WinZip 7.0.

Disclaimer: Downloading files from the Internet can sometimes be problematic. Different web browsers and operating systems act differently. The instructions above may vary from system to system or may not work at all.

ArcInfo GRID format

The data are also available in ArcInfo GRID format that can be used directly in ArcInfo, ArcView, or any other GIS or remote sensing software package that supports ArcInfo GRID format. In ArcView, the GRID files will be most useful with the Spatial Analyst Extension.

Download GRIDS to desktop.

1. Click on either the dubath.tar, pubath.tar, or nibath.tar below to download the files to the desktop.

2. "Untar" the files. Since ArcInfo GRIDs are directories of files these directories have been tarred into a single file for downloading. The files can be "untarred" using WinZip in Windows or "tar xf" in UNIX.

3. The bathymetry GRID files (DUBATHG, PUBATHG, and NIBATHG) are contained within each respective folder.

Disclaimer: Downloading files from the internet can sometimes be problamatic. Different web browsers and operating systems act differently. The instructions above may vary from system to system or may not work at all.
