A Summary of Findings of the West-Central Florida Coastal Studies Project

USGS Open File Report 01-303

Figure 6. Facies distribution across the west-central Florida inner shelf. The coast is quartz-dominated but contains a skeletal component. Just offshore, the skeletal components increases making the inner shelf to lie within the mixed quartz and carbonate zone. Further to the west out onto the shelf and upper slope, the carbonate content increases and belts of different carbonate constituents appear having broad transitions from one to another. Data from Ginsburg and James (1974).
