Geophysical Surveys of the San Andreas and Crystal Springs Reservoir System Including Seismic-Reflection Profiles and Swath Bathymetry, San Mateo County, California

Figures

  • Map with physical features shown.Figure 1. (2.0 MB)

Location of San Andreas Lake and Upper and Lower Crystal Springs Reservoir, San Mateo County, California (Map courtesy of Google Inc. 2008).

  • X-Y plot.Figure 2. (0.3 MB)

15-second epoch-rate post-processed kinematic vertical positions of the vessel waterline with a 5-minute running median filter of the data shown as a red line. The filtered line was input into the Swath Processor software during post-processing as a tide curve. This established the vertical datum of the San Andreas Reservoir survey as WGS84 G1150/ITRF2000. Equipment upgrades after the San Andreas Reservoir survey eliminated the need to do this procedure during the Crystal Springs Survey.

  • X-Y plot.Figure 3. (0.1 MB)

(Left) Plot of water temperature as a function of depth (1 dbar pressure is approximately equivalent to 1-m depth); (Right) Sound velocity as a function of water depth.

  • X-Y plot.Figure 4. (0.1 MB)

Daily temperature (left) and sound-velocity profile (right) measurements taken at Upper and Lower Crystal Springs Reservoir, San Mateo County, California (1 dbar is equivalent to 1-m water depth).

  • Flow diagram.Figure 5. (0.4 MB)

Data processing workflow showing data sources and processing software.

  • Map.Figure 6. (1.0 MB)

The Geoid03 model difference between WGS84 G1150 and NAVD88 projected into UTM Zone 10 coordinates with a 10-m-cell spacing using cubic convolution. The outlines of San Andreas Lake and Crystal Springs Reservoir are shown for reference.

  • Map.Figure 7. (0.7 MB)

Combined bathymetry and topography of San Andreas Lake with elevations in NAVD88 on the NAD83 CORS96 ellipsoid, San Mateo County, California.

  • Map.Figure 8. (0.6 MB)

Combined bathymetry and topography of Upper and Lower Crystal Springs Reservoir, San Mateo County, California. Elevations are NAVD88 on the NAD83 CORS96 ellipsoid.

  • Map.Figure 9. (0.4 MB)

Plot of the 1st Standard Deviation of elevation samples falling within each 1-m cell in the San Andreas Lake DEM.

  • Map.Figure 10. (0.3 MB)

Plot of the 1st Standard Deviation of elevation samples that fall within the 1-m cells used to create the Crystal Springs DEM.
