Purpose: This report is a new compilation of the location and extent of folds and faults in Cook Inlet Basin, Alaska. Data sources are previously published maps, well locations, and seismic-reflection data. We also utilize interpretation of new aeromagnetic data and some proprietary seismic-reflection data. Some structures are remarkably well displayed on frequency-filtered aeromagnetic maps, which are a useful tool for constraining the length of some structures. Most anticlines in and around the basin have at least shows of oil or gas, and some are considered to be seismically active. The new map better displays the pattern of faulting and folding. Deformation is greatest in upper Cook Inlet, where structures are oriented slightly counterclockwise of the basin bounding faults. The north ends of these structures bend to the northeast, which gives a pattern consistent with right-transpressional deformation. Process_Step: Process_Description: An iterative process was used to define the folds. The Magoon and others (1976) map was the starting point. A plot of well locations in the Cook Inlet region was placed upon that map to see if well trends defined the fold locations. If so, the well locations were used to define the length of the folds. If this was the means of defining a fold, it is indicated in the text. Also, seismic reflection data was used to define the presence, location, and length of folds, where it was available. A map of the seismic reflection data is in the text. If this was the means of defining a fold, it is indicated in the text. Lastly, the presence and length of some folds was defined by their aeromagnetic signature. Some folds were well defined by aeromagnetic data and some were not. If this was the means of defining a fold, it is indicated in the text.
