Band ratio results were combined into displayed mineral and vegetation groups using Boolean algebra. The automated analysis methodology is being employed to generate similar maps of the United States and its territories in support of national-scale USGS mineral resource and mineral-environmental assessments. This map, in ERDAS IMAGINE (.img) format, has been attributed by pixel value with material identification data that can be queried in most image processing and GIS software packages. Purpose: The purpose of the image is to display the type and spatial distribution of mineral and vegetation groups identified by automated analysis of Landsat satellite remote-sensing data.
