We apologize for any inconvenience this error may have caused. ----------------------------------------------------- Revised and reposted April 25, 2014, version 1.2 The SEP ("Standard Error of Prediction, in percent") reported in USGS SIR 2009-5139 (on pages 21, 23, 25, and 27) for the weighted least-squares (WLS) regressions (annual flow, monthly flow, and flow duration statistics) was an incorrectly computed residual standard error (RSE) in percent. The square root of a term in the conversion formula from log10 units to percent was systematically not used. This was an egregious oversight that requires immediate rectification. There was a further incorrect computation by not extending the RSE in log10-units to properly compute the standard error of prediction in log10 units. Part of the mistake was the semantic similarity in SEP as "Standard Error in Percent" versus "Standard Error of Prediction." The coefficients of the WLS regressions are correct as is the adjusted R-squared. None of the reported values for generalized least-squares regressions (peak flow statistics) are affected by this error.
