EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD.--

SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Flood in spring of 1913 reached a stage of 21.6 ft, present datum, discharge about 34,000 ft³/s.

REMARKS FOR CURRENT YEAR.--Algae community samples were collected as part of the National Water-Quality Assessment program (NAWQA) in the upper Illinois River Basin. A qualitative sample was collected in accordance with NAWQA protocols (Cuffney and others, 1993). The qualitative periphyton sample is a composite of all samples collected from all periphyton microhabitats present within the sampling reach. All samples were processed by the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences. Reach A is located 3.6 mi downstream of the gage (lat 41°02'57.38", long 87°50'31.75") and continues downstream for 984 and (lat 41°03'06.58", long 87°50'26.37").
