RESULTS OF THE ASSESSMENT - OIL

We estimate the undiscovered technically recoverable conventional oil resources of the United States to range from 23.5 BBO (billion barrels of oil) at a 95 percent probability to as much as 39.6 BBO at a 5 percent probability. The mean estimate of undiscovered conventional oil is 30.3 BBO. Of this amount, approximately 6.4 BBO exist in accumulations smaller than 1 MMBO. Estimated conventional oil resources are listed by region and by province in table 2 and illustrated in figure 9.
