Circular 1224, “Assessing Ground-Water Availability to Contamination: Providing Scientifically Defensible Information for Decision Makers”

March 4, 2003

Figure 9 (page 17) of printed copies of Circular 1224 has a graphical error. The green symbols (symbol)shown in the ground-water recharge area from streams south of Weeks and Snakes Ponds, west of Mashpee Pond, east of Moody Pond, and south to the Mashpee River are incorrect. Please ignore the green symbols in the printed copy. The online PDF version of Circular 1224 has been revised; you may print a copy of page 17 from the PDF file to a laserwriter and place the paper copy in the printed copy of C1224.

Also, two literature citations are missing from page 30. The following citation should have appeared before that of Garret, P., and others, 1989:

Franke, O.L, Reilly, T.E., Pollack, D.W., and LeBaugh, J.W. , 1998, Estimating areas contributing recharge to wells: Lessons from previous studies: U.S. Geological Survey Circular 1174, 14 p.

The following citation should have appeared before Whitehead, R.L, 1992:
Winter, T.C., Harvey, J.W., Franke, O.L., and Alley, W.M. 1998, Ground water and surface water—A single resource: U.S. Geological Survey Circular 1339, 79 p.

We apologize for any inconvenience these errors may have caused.
