 OFFICE OF WATER QUALITY TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM 86.06

 Subject:  PROGRAMS AND PLANS--Reporting Nutrient Data


An evaluation of the worth of nutrient data reported by the 
Central Laboratories System was summarized in Office of Water 
Quality Technical Memorandum 86.02.  The major conclusion drawn 
from the evaluation was that the reporting limit of 0.l mg/L being 
used for the TKN analysis (ammonia plus organic nitrogen) was not 
consistent with the standard deviation of performance over the 
range of the method.  It was also stated that a technical
memorandum would be issued to restate the reporting limit.

Effective immediately, the minimum reporting level for the TKN 
analysis, nitrogen, dissolved, ammonia plus organic (mg/L as N), 
is 0.2 mg/L.
