ARCVIEW PROJECT READ-ME The ArcView map documents and shapefiles used to create the trackline maps on this disc can be found in the arc.zip file located in the ARC subfolder of the SOFTWARE folder located at the top level of the disc. The map documents were created with ESRI GIS software ArcView 8.1. The shapefiles, created with ArcView 3.2, may be viewed with other versions of ArcView or public domain software ArcExplorer 2.0 (Windows) and 4.0 (Windows, Mac OS X, Unix, Linux), which can currently be downloaded from the ESRI website at http://www.esri.com/software/arcexplorer/index.html. The ArcView map documents presented here are named all, kingsley, orange, orange_a, and lowry. These maps show trackline navigation in the survey area. Inset maps also show start of lines and 500-shot intervals along each line. The following list describes the shapefiles included as part of the GIS project: * 93sol.shp: a point layer of the start of 93LCA01 boomer tracklines * 94sol.shp: a point layer of the start of 94LCA01 boomer tracklines * 93sht500.shp: a point layer of 93LCA01 boomer 500-shot intervals * 94sht500.shp: a point layer of 94LCA01 boomer 500-shot intervals * 93trkln.shp: a line layer of 93LCA01 boomer trackline navigation * 94trkln.shp: a line layer of 94LCA01 boomer trackline navigation * fl_city.shp: a point layer of Florida cities * fl_lake.shp: an area layer of Florida lakes * fl_river.shp: an area layer of Florida rivers The USGS is not the originator of all layers. Formal metadata are available as HTML pages (viewable with any web browser) and XML pages (used by ArcCatalog). Due to use constraints set by the dataset source, a Florida roads layer also used to create the maps has not been included.
