Abstract:
This spatial layer contains land-surface elevation contours in meters and feet above the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 for the upper Washita River basin in southwestern Oklahoma. The contours and elevations were derived from 1:100,000-scale U.S. Geological Survey Digital Line Graph data sets.
Purpose:
To provide topographic information for users working in the upper Washita River basin.

Process_Description:
The Data Line Graph (DLG) data sets were acquired on 9-track tape. The digital data sets were converted from a DLG format to ARC/INFO 7.0.2 format. The 46 digital data sets of land surface elevation contours for Oklahoma were joined using the ARC/INFO command APPEND. The elevation contours for each county were extracted using county boundaries and the ARC/INFO command CLIP, with a fuzzy tolerance of 10 meters. The resultant 77 data sets were processed with the ARC/INFO BUILD command. The major and minor pair codes were recoded.

The spatial layer "HUC8" of the upper Washita River basin boundary was used to select land-surface elevation contours from a spatial layer of land-surface elevation contours for the State of Oklahoma. The selected contours were saved as a shapefile imported into the Geodatabase and metadata written.
