This raster spatial layer is referred to as a 'Filled DEM' and is a derivative product of the 1:24,000-scale Digital Elevation Model (DEM) coverage for the upper Washita River basin in southwestern Oklahoma. An algorithm was used to locate and fill all depressions or sinks in the DEM where there is no flow from pixel to pixel within a hydrologic unit; efforts were made to maintain natural sink features. A filled DEM is used for hydrologic modeling.

To provide topographic information to users working in the upper Washita River basin. This raster grid is one of the products created as a test to determine the feasibility of developing an Elevation Derivatives for National Applications (EDNA) database for the entire nation.

The National Elevation Dataset was clipped to the upper Washita River basin using the spatial layer 'HUC8'. Depressions in the DEM were filled using the ARC/INFO FILL function. This algorithm is used to locate and fill all depressions or sinks where there is no flow from pixel to pixel within a hydrologic unit. During this processing step, efforts were made to maintain natural sink features. The data set was imported into the geodatabase and metadata written.
