ArcGIS Project Read-Me The map documents and shapefiles used to create the trackline maps provided on this disc can be found in the arc.zip file located in the ARC subfolder of the SOFTWARE folder located at the top level of the disc. The map documents were created with Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) ArcGIS 9.1 software. Shapefiles may also be viewed with other versions of ArcView, ArcGIS, or public domain software ArcExplorer (http://www.esri.com/software/arcexplorer/index.html). The Points to Lines ArcScript, downloadable at http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=12702, was used to create the trackline layers. The map documents (.mxd) are named 06scc03_full_area_map and 06scc03_areaa. Both maps display trackline navigation from cruise 06SCC03. The survey map also shows the start of lines and 1000-shot-interval locations along each line. The list below describes the shapefiles provided with the ArcGIS project. Metadata are available as HTML documents (viewable with any Web browser) and XML documents (used by ArcCatalog). 06scc03_sol: point layer of the start of 06SCC03 tracklines 06sscc03_shots: point layer of 06SCC03 1,000-shot-interval locations 06scc03_trkln: line layer of 06SCC03 trackline navigation la_coast: Polygon layer of the Louisiana shoreline derived from Landsat imagery (Coastline layer is a LOSCO data set)
