ArcGIS Project Readme The map documents and shapefiles used to create the trackline maps provided on this disc can be found in the arc.zip file located in the ARC subfolder of the SOFTWARE folder located at the top level of the disc. The map documents were created with ESRI ArcGIS 9.2 and 9.3 software. Shapefiles may also be viewed with other versions of ArcGIS, ArcView, or public domain software such as ArcExplorer (http://www.esri.com/software/arcexplorer/index.html) or GeoMapApp (http://www.geomapapp.org/). The Points to Lines ArcScript, downloadable at http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=12702, was used to create the trackline layer. The map documents (.mxd) are named 07scc01_location_map, 07scc01_north, and 07scc01_south. All maps display 07SCC01 trackline navigation. The inset maps (shown on the location map as Northern and Southern Islands) also show the start of lines (green dots) and 1,000-shot-interval locations (black dots) along each line. The list below describes the shapefiles provided with the ArcGIS project. Metadata are available as HTML documents (viewable with any Web browser) and XML documents (used by ArcCatalog). 07scc01_shots: Point layer of 07SCC01 Chirp 1,000-shot-interval locations (created by SPCMSC) 07scc01_sol: Point layer of the start of 07SCC01 Chirp tracklines (created by SPCMSC) 07scc01_tracklines: Line layer of 07SCC01 Chirp trackline navigation (created by SPCMSC) la_coastline: Polygon layer of the Louisiana shoreline derived from Landsat imagery (Coastline layer is a Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinator's Office data set)
