ArcGIS Project Readme

The map documents and shapefiles used to create the trackline maps
provided on this disc can be found in the arc.zip file located in the arc
subfolder of the software folder located at the top level of the disc.
The map documents were created with PC-compatible ESRI ArcGIS 9.3 software. 
Shapefiles may also be viewed with other versions of ArcGIS, ArcView, or 
public domain software ArcExplorer (http://www.esri.com/software/arcexplorer/index.html). 
GeoMapApp (http://www.geomapapp.org/) software is compatible with all 
platforms. The Points to Lines ArcScript, downloadable at 
http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=12702, was used to create the trackline layer.
	
The map documents (.mxd) are named 10cct01_03_location, 10cct01_location, 10cct02_location,
10cct03_location 10cct02_area1, 10cct02_area2, 10cct02_area3, 10cct02_area4, 10cct03_area1,
and 10cct03_area2. All maps display 10CCT01 through 10CCT03 trackline navigation. The inset maps 
(shown on the 10CCT02 and 10CCT03 location maps as Area 1 - Area 4; Area 1 and Area 2)
also show the start of lines (green dots) and 1,000-shot-interval locations (black dots)
along each line.

The arc.zip file also contains an images folder, which stores .gif images of each 
trackline's sub-bottom profile.  To access these images; open one
of the inset maps, click on the hyperlink button (the symbol is a lightening bolt)
located on the toolbar.  Once this is activated, the tracklines will all change
to blue, indicating they are hyperlinks.  Selecting a trackline will open up the
associated printable profile image.

The list below describes the shapefiles provided with the ArcGIS project.
Metadata are available as FGDC-compliant text, HTML (viewable with any Web browser),
and XML documents (used by ArcCatalog).
