About 80% of the technically recoverable oil resources, on the basis of the mean estimate, are thought to occur in northern NPRA within these four plays. These plays are westward continuations of geologic trends that host the Alpine and Fiord oil pools (A, B ) and the Tarn, Meltwater, and Nanuq oil pools (C, D ), just east of NPRA (fig. 2).
