Wind-polished stone or ventifact. These fluted, faceted, and pitted stones were shaped by wind driven sand, silt, and clay particles as they sat on the outwash plain surface. Later they were worked upward into the eolian layer by frost action. The unusual shape of some ventifacts cause them to be mistaken for Indian artifacts by laymen.
