IntroductionSome of the primary responsibilities of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) NationalMapping Program (NMP) are to make availablemaps, images, spatial data, remote sensing data,and related information; provide assistance inselecting, acquiring, and using geographic andcartographic products; and design, print, and distribute maps of the National Atlas. It coordi-nates Federal topographic mapping and digitalcartographic activities and provides leadership inthe development and advancement of surveyingand mapping technology. The primary series of standard digital data typescreated by the NMP is known as USGS GeoData. |
