Files available through this site represent the digital component of the Geologic Map of the Sedan quadrangle, Gallatin and Park Counties, Montana, as well as pdf files for the cartographic product, including cross sections, explanations, and other text. Included are the following ARC/INFO coverages in regular and export format: geo_net - map unit line and polygon coverage geo_pnt - strike and dip points stru_net - fault and fold line coverage stru_pnt - foliation point coverage stpnt_graphic - graphical representation of stru_pnt and geo_pnt dvalues - annotation for stru_pnt and geo_pnt data_net - quad boundary and cross sections line coverage data_pnt - wells, spring, and gravel pit point coverage pnt_sym - point coverage of line decorations pnt_graphic - graphical representation of pnt_sym PLEASE NOTE: The direction of the arcs is significant in that it determines on which side the sawteeth or half circles are placed on the thrust and detachment faults. The sawteeth or half circles are on the upper plate. If these coverages are cleaned the arcs can 'flip' and the sawteeth or half circles will end up on the incorrect side of the fault. Please refer to the graphic file for correct placement of sawteeth or half circles. ALSO: The info files give the azimuth for strike and the value for dip; the direction of dip is not readily apparent from the info files. The user should refer to the plotted graphic to determine direction of dip. Also included are line and shade sets and special fonts, an .aml to plot the coverages, a .gra file and .eps file special fonts - fnt026, fnt035, fnt037, fnt039, fnt040 sedan.mrk sedan.lin sedan.shd sedangeology.aml - plot aml sedangeology.gra - ARC/INFO plot file produced from above .aml sedangeology.ps - Postscript file produced from above .gra sedanmeta.txt - an ascii file with FGDC Formal Metadata PLEASE NOTE: This plot is not meant to represent the final published version of the geologic map. It is provided as a guide to the user of the digital coverages. Please see the pdf files of the map layout for the final published version (version 2.0) of the geologic map.
