BIG BRANCH NATIONAL WILDLIFE RUFUGE


Working with a number of citizens and conservation organizations, the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation worked successfully to establish the Big Branch National Wildlife Refuge on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Husband and wife duo Connie and Cliff Glockner (Connie is on the Foundation's Board of Directors) won the National Wetlands Award for their efforts.

The refuge contains what is considered the highest quality wetlands in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin, ranging from cypress-lined bayous to thousands of acres of productive marsh.
