This readme file describes all the files that are associated with U.S. Geological Survey Open File Report 98-212. The included files and their descriptions are listed below: pnf_readme.txt - This file describing all files associated with this project pnfmines.e00.Z - compressed Arc/Info export file containing GSMODS point coverage ( 89,465 bytes) pnfmines.met - pnfmines Metadata text file (22,960 bytes) pnfplate.hp - HPGL2 plot file that plots points in pnfmines Arc/Info coverage (tested on HP650C and HP755CM plotters) (3,241,033 bytes) pnfplate.gra - Arc/Info .gra file (3,837,072 bytes) pnfplate.eps - Arc/Info .gra file converted to postscript file using POSTSCRIPT command (15,686,158 bytes) pnfplate1.aml - Arc Macro Language (AML) file used to create pnfplate files using ArcPlot (5,890 bytes) importpnf.aml - AML used to import arc coverages; type "&r importpnf" (without the quotes) at ARC prompt. (858 bytes) pnftext.tar.Z - Compressed and tarred text files used to make maps and metadata for coverages (28,837 bytes) pnfdepmd.tar.Z - Compressed and tarred Arc/Info export files that contain deposit model polygons for Payette National Forest mineral resource investigation (314,159 bytes) To use this data, put all of these files in one directory. The pnfmines.e00 file was compressed using the Unix 'compress -fv -b16 {filename}' command (pnfmines.e00.Z). The mineral resource tract coverages were tared and then compressed (pnfdepmod.tar.Z) as were the base map coverages (pnfmap.tar.Z) and plot files (pnfplate.tar.Z). The text, key and metadata files were also tared and compressed (pnftext.tar.Z) The compressed files (.Z) can be uncompressed at the Unix prompt by the command: uncompress -v {filename} The tar files can be extracted at the Unix prompt by the command: tar -xvf {filename} Use Arc/Info to import the .e00 coverages (importpnf.aml will do all the importing for you). The coverages are in UTM Zone 11 (-500,000 yshift) projection. Otherwise, they can be imported with the ArcView program Import71. The files that have been tarred include: bdy.key - boundary keyfile geog.key - town symbol keyfile geog1.key - river or stream symbol keyfile geog2.key - lake symbol keyfile geog3.key - road symbol keyfile map_extent_5.e00 - coverage to define map extent min.txt - mineral locality number text explanation mods1.txt - partial list of property names (1 of 3) mods2.txt - partial list of property names (2 of 3) mods3.txt - partial list of property names (3 of 3) pay_proj.txt - payette projection text file paytext.key - deposit type symbol keyfile pnfbdy.e00 - Polygon boundary coverage of Payette National Forest pnfcity.e00 - Point coverage of cities pnfcoal.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for coal deposits pnfdepmod.met - Metadata for deposit model coverages pnfdiscu.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for disseminated copper-silver, barite, and kuroko deposits. pnfgyp.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for gypsum deposits pnfhsau.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for hot spring gold deposits pnfhshg.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for hot spring mercury deposits pnflatlon.e00 - Coverage of latitude/longitude tics pnflosau.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for low sulfide gold-quartz deposits pnfmdist.e00 - Coverage of mining districts pnfmines.met - Metadata for pnfmines coverage pnfmmvcu.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for copper-gold mixed-metal veins pnfmmvs.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for gold-silver mixed-metal veins, tungsten veins - quartz-scheelite, rare-earth placer, gold skarn, and zinc-lead skarn pnfmnlv.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for manganese layer and vein deposits pnfplate1.aml - AML used to make pnfplate pnfplate.gra - Arc/Info .gra plot file pnfplate.hp - HPGL2 plot file pnfplate.eps - Postscript plot file pnfplylv.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for polymetallic layers and vein, and gypsum-anhydrite deposits pnfplyvd.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for distal disseminated gold-silver, antimony veins, and disseminated antimony deposits pnfporcu.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for prophyry copper-molybdenum deposits pnfrivs.e00 - Coverage of lakes and rivers pnfroad.e00 - Coverage of roads pnfsec.e00 - Coverage of Public Land Survey sections pnfskncu.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for copper skarn deposits pnfsknfe.e00 - Coverage of areas permissive and/or favorable for iron skarn deposits pnfsnake.e00 - Coverage of Snake River pnftandr.e00 - Coverage of Townships boundaries pnftic.e00 - Coverage to plot tics on map pnfwild.e00 - Coverage of Wilderness Boundaries scale2b2.aml - AML used to plot bar scale on maps
