Example 3 Example 3 This example shows placer districts as solid polygons classified according to COMMODITIE (eg. Au, PGE, Sn, etc.). The background geology is classified according to PERIOD with only those units containing Mesozoic or younger aged rocks showing. Then modify the display attributes to show only Mesozoic or younger aged rocks in the background as follows: 1. locate the 'Rox5mpe.asx' Geology (Period) legend by re-arranging (dragging) the legend windows 2. right click on the 'Rox5mpe.asx' Geology (Period) legend to display the legend configuration dialog box 3. click on the 'Subset...' button to display a dialog box containing a selection menu 4. select all units containing rocks of Mesozoic or younger ages (eg. Tertiary, Tertiary and Quaternary, etc.) 5. click the 'Ok' button to close the 'Subset' dialog box 6. click the 'Ok' button to close the legend configuration dialog box and redraw the picture -------------------------------------------------- To outline the placer districts in black so that they show up better: 1. right click on the 'Placerco.asx' Placer Districts (Commodities) legend to display the legend configuration dialog box 2. click on the 'Select Theme' button to close the legend dialog box and display a 'Shape File Display Attributes' dialog box 3. change the Line Colour from NONE to BLACK 4. click the 'Ok' button to close the 'Shape File Display Attributes' dialog box and redraw the picture NOTE: You will not be able to save the changes you make during this SurView session (since the files are write-protected on the CD-ROM).
