25.The blue clay bed in the photograph has been hydraulically shattered by water pressure from beneath, during liquefaction. A large piece from the lower clay stratum has been detached and emplaced upward along the base of another clay stratum. This type of liquefaction-induced shattering phenomenon is very common in thin interbeds (less than 0.5 m) of fine-grained material and sand.
