Upper Hudson Shelf Valley and Adjacent Shelf, Offshore of New York Figure 8. Perspective of the survey region with low-relief sand waves (see fig. 5 for location of the image). This perspective image (looking forward to the southeast) shows the backscatter intensity draped over the bathmetry. The sand waves are about 1 m in relief and are oriented approximately northwest-southeast. The waves are asymmetric, with steeper high-backscatter sides facing to the northeast.
