U. S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 99-404 Sandoval-Santa Fe and Belen Surveys, New Mexico, flown in 1998 by Sander Geophysics Cochiti Survey, New Mexico, flown in 1997 by Geoterrex as part of a time-domain electromagnetic survey COLOR SHADED-RELIEF IMAGES OF THE FINAL MAGNETIC DATA Color shaded-relief images of the final magnetic data are available in a variety of formats for each survey area. TIF images show latitude/ longitude tick marks only; they have no extra annotation so that they can be used with other overlays. GIF and PDF images have scales and text for map plot purposes. All the formats were derived originally from color shaded-relief displays created by ERMAPPER*, using a sun azimuth of 270 degrees (west) and sun elevation of 60 degrees. Color scales have variable stretches, which are the same for all images from one survey area, but differ between survey areas. Color scales are shown on the GIF and PDF images. The types of image files and their uses are described briefly below. IMAGE TYPE IMAGE FILES ------------- ----------------------------------------------------- TIF (*.tif) ssmagimg.tif, ssmagimg.tfw (Sandoval-Santa Fe survey) and geotif bmagimg.tif, bmagimg.tfw (Belen survey) header (*.tfw) cmagimg.tif, cmagimg.tfw (Cochiti survey) EXPLANATION Tagged Image Format file with tick marks as the only annotation. Without the header file, the tif file can be imported into many standard graphics programs. The header file provides geographic information (geotif) for direct import into ARC/INFO and ARC/VIEW. The .tfw file must be in the same directory as the .tif file. IMAGE TYPE IMAGE FILES ------------- ----------------------------------------------------- GIF (*.gif) ssmagpic.gif (Sandoval-Santa Fe survey) bmagpic.gif (Belen survey) cmagpic.gif (Cochiti survey) EXPLANATION Graphics Interchange Format file (GIF89a) with tick marks, map scale, color scale bar, and brief explanation. The gif file can be imported into many standard graphics programs and read directly by web browsers. When viewed, it may be necessary to zoom out to fit the image within the screen area. IMAGE TYPE IMAGE FILES ------------- ----------------------------------------------------- PDF (*.pdf) ssmagpic.pdf (Sandoval-Santa Fe survey) bmagpic.pdf (Belen survey) cmagpic.pdf (Cochiti survey) EXPLANATION Portable Document Format file for Adobe* Acrobat readers, annotated with tick marks, map scale, color scale bar, and brief explanation. All pdf images have been rescaled to fit on a page with maximum size of 11"X17" (landscape). *Trade names are used for descriptive purposes only.
