These are the digital files used to create the map in USGS OFR
99-421. The 1:24,000 scale map shows the bedrock and
surficial deposts of the Uncas 7.5' quadrangle, Clallam and
Jefferson counties, Washington. Digital files include
ARC/Info coverages in export format of geology, and strike and dip
information.
Purpose:
Digital representaion of geologic mapping facilitates the
presentation and analysis of earth-science data. Digital maps
may be displayed at any scale or projection, however the geologic
data in this coverage is not intended for use at a scale larger
that 1:24,000.
Supplemental_Information:
USGS OFR 99-421 digital data consists of the following files.
OFR99-421 with geologic map, text, description of map units,
correlation of map units, and references.

Data set was created using ESRI ARC/Info version 7 in a Unix
platform.

Attribute_Accuracy_Report:
The linework was captured by hand digitizing from field maps on
mylar stable base at 1:24,000 scale. Vector and polygon
attributes were obtained from field maps and compilations. The
digital data has been visually checked and the geologic map has
undergone technical review.
Logical_Consistency_Report:
The geology data set, uncasgeo6, is a network coverage containing
arcs and polygons. Each polygon has a coded attribute
designating the mapped geologic unit. Faults and stratigraphic
contacts are represented as arcs. When a fault is also a
stratigraphic contact, only a single arc is present. Dangling arcs
may be present (faults, dikes, etc.)
Uncassandd is a point coverage of bedding strike and dip
information. Each point is rotated to the bearing and has an
item value dip.
Completeness_Report:
The digital data files are the geospatial files used to create the
geologic map. Files for the correlation of map units and text are
not included, but are available at website
<http://geopubs.wr.usgs.gov/open-file/of99-421.>

Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report:
Users of this digital geospatial geologic data set should respect
the intentions of the original mappers and the limitations of the
map. This geologic map is intended to be used at a scale of
1:24,000; it is not intended to be used at a more detailed scale.

Process_Description:
Linework was captured by hand digitizing from a stable base line
drawing of scale 1:24,000. The digital linework was edited and attributed using
ARC/Info. The coverage was built for polygon topology, and had
labels created and attributed. For purposes of distribution, the
coverage has been converted to an interchange format file using
the ARC/Info export command.

Attribute:
Attribute_Label: arc-code
Attribute_Definition:
Arc-code is a positive integer value (3 3 I) item in the arc
attribute table. Values range from 1-99. Arc-code describes
the type of line feature. A lookup table, uncasgeo6.llt, contains brief
descriptions of the arc-code.

Attribute_Label: Class
Attribute_Definition:
Class is a positive integer value (4 5 B) item in the polygon
