Grain-size and composition data for bottom grab samples are presented on the surface sediments panel. Samples generally consist of quartz-rich sand with subordinate amounts of gravel and mud. Locally, samples are rich in carbonate gravel or sand. The carbonate gravel primarily occurs offshore, but also is found in areas such as the troughs between the nearshore sand bars.
