Grain-size and composition data for bottom grab samples are presented on the surface sediments panel. Samples generally consist of carbonate sand and gravel with subordinate amounts of quartz. Quartz-rich sands are noticeable in the inner portion of the transect. In general, the low acoustic backscatter correlates with medium to fine siliciclastic sand with minor carbonate grains - the higher backscatter areas correlate with coarse grain size and increased carbonate.
