The 17 species on the left are species that do not occur in late Pleistocene packrat midden assemblages from the Yucca Mountain region (although Juniperus scopulorum, Pinus monophylla, Pinus longaeva, and Pseudotsuga menziesii have been recovered in the broader southeastern California/southern Nevada /southwestern Utah area). The 4 species on the right have been recovered from multiple midden assemblages in the Yucca Mountain region (although Pinus flexilis was apparently at or near its lowest limits at the elevation of the proposed repository). The gray band represents the range of paleoclimatic estimates for the Last Glacial Maximum from the modern analogue analysis.
