Abstract:
This ArcView GIS layer is intended as a backdrop to the Gulf of Mexico
area map. This layer defines the full extent of the Gulf of Mexico ArcView
project area.
Purpose:
This GIS overlay is a component of the U. S. Geological Survey, Woods Hole
Field Center's, Gulf of Mexico ArcView GIS database. The Gulf of Mexico
GIS database is intended to organize and display USGS held data and provide
on-line (WWW) access to the data and/or metadata.

Process_Description:
A vector outline of the project area was drawn using the PCI Remote Sensing
Software's Imageworks program. The vector segment was exported in theArc/Info
export (*.e00) format.
The export file, bckgrnd.e00, was imported to ARC/INFO and verified. No
modifications were done to the coverage and a polygon coverage for the
area was subsquently created.
The ArcView shapefile, bckgrnd, was brought into ArcView for final viewing
and verification. No further editting or changes were needed to the shape
file.
