This ArcView GIS data layer contains the navigation fix points for the
R/V FARNELLA 90-3 cruise.
Purpose:
The trackp.shp file shows the R/V FARNELLA 90-3 trackline. This GIS overlay
is a component of the U. S Geological Survey, Woods Hole Field Center's,
Gulf of Mexico ArcView GIS database. The Gulf of Mexico GIS database is
intended to organize and display USGS held data and provide on-line (WWW)
access to the data and/or metadata.
Supplemental_Information:
This file contains the locations of the individual navigation points. Attributes
of the position include the date and time of the navigation fix. Navigation
fixes were recorded in the mrg-mrg format at a two minute interval.

Completeness_Report:
The trackp.shp file contains all the navigation fixes for the entire R/V
FARNELLA 90-3 cruise. Navigation fixes were recorded every two minutes
in the mrg-mrg format.
The ASCII text file, nav.txt, was editted to create a simple file of longitude,
latitude coordinates with year, month, day, hour and minute attributes.
The ASCII file of position coordinates with date and time attributes were
imported into a multi-point vector segment of the PCI Remote Sensing software
file utme00.pix.
The newly created vector segment was displayed using the PCI program Imageworks
and verified. No errors or inconsistencies were found, so the vector segment
was output as an ArcView shapefile.
