1. Overview

Before the U.S. Bureau of Mines closed, several of its geophysicists 
developed computer programs to process crosswell seismic and radar 
data. To make these programs readily available to the public, the 
programs and the associated reports are stored as USGS Open-File 
Reports on a website operated by the U.S. Geological Survey. This 
particular open-file report pertains to the program "MIGRATOM" and 
the report "MIGRATOM -- Geophysical tomography using wavefront
migration and fuzzy constraints" (Jackson and Tweeton, 1994). The 
program executes on a personal computer using the DOS operating 
system; the program is not maintained.

This file 'OFR.TXT' describes
   (a) The contents of the zip file (section 2).
   (b) Software needed to read the report (section 3).

2. Contents of the Zip File

The files for the program and the associated report are stored in 
migratom.zip, which is a compressed file. Software to uncompress this 
zip file is available at http://www.winzip.com.

    ri9497.pdf    This file contains the report "MIGRATOM -- 
                  Geophysical tomography using wavefront migration and
                  fuzzy constraints," which has extensive information 
                  on the program.

3. Software Needed to Read the Report

File "ri9497.pdf" can be read only with the program 
"Adobe Acrobat Reader," which may be obtained for free at
http://www.adobe.com. 

System requirements for Acrobat Reader 4.0 for Windows:
   i486 or Pentium processor-based personal computer
   Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 with Service
      Pack 3 or later
   8 MB of RAM on Windows 95 and Windows 98 (16 MB recommended)
   16 MB of RAM on Windows NT (24 MB recommended)
   10 MB of available hard disk space
