COMMENTS: Seismic line for this core is Line AT#9 (sparker). This lines runs from 0734-0748. hrs. Core at 0743 on record. Core through marine unconformity (site I-2 on uniboom record line 38, at 1646, AST 82-3, at 1646 on 2/85). Section 4 contains contact between clay and sand; section 5 contains color change about 6 inches into the top.
PENTROMETER RECORD: Moderate 0-4'; slow 5,6,7', moderate 8-12'; slow 13,14,15' very slow to end
0-127 cm (Section 1) - Brown/dark brown, 10YR 4/3, medium to coarse sand, moderately well sorted, occasional gravel, no clay or silt, essentially homogeneous top to bottom except for zones of shells primarily between 107-127 cm; (12-18cm: 0.5% gravel, 99% sand, 0.6% silt, 0.2% clay).
127-227 cm (Section 2A) - 127-163 cm: brown/dark brown 10YR 4/3, medium to coarse sand, with some gravel, shell fragments; gradational lower contact, wood fragments at 155-156 and 158-160 cm. 163-172 cm: wood fragments. 172-227 cm: dark olive gray, 5Y 3/2 silty clay, black organic material at 182 cm, (188-193 cm: 17% sand, 81% silt, 2% clay).
227-293 cm (Section 2B) - Dark olive gray, 5Y 3/2 silty clay, no shells.
293-359 cm (Section 3A) - 293-296 cm: void. 296-321 cm: dark olive gray, 5Y 3/2 silty clay, sharp contact with underlying unit. 321-346 cm: dark gray, 10YR 4/1, fine - medium sand with some silt, very wet, gradational contact (326-331 cm: 93% sand, 3% silt, 3% clay).
359-459 cm (Section 3B) - Dark brown, 7.5YR 3/2, very wet section. 359-382 cm: fine sand, silty, very cohesive, gradational contact, (370-376 cm: 63% sand, 30% silt, 7% clay). 382-402 cm: silt and fine sand, less cohesive. 402-459 cm: mottled silty zones and clayey zones, silty zones are dark grayish brown, 5Y 4/2; clayey zones are dark brown, 7.5YR 3/2. Major silty zones occur in the intervals 412-417, 426-433, and 444-446 cm.
