COMMENTS: Seismic line for this core is Line AT#2 (sparker). This lines runs from 1341-1351 hrs. Core at 1347 hrs. on record. Penetration was probably not sufficient to reach outwash target shown on uniboom record (site III-3, line 19, UCONN 84-1). Lots of H2S. Sections 1B and 2A are in the same D-tube.
PENTROMETER RECORD: Rapid 0-10'; very slow 10'-end
0-120 cm (Section 1A) - Olive gray, 5Y 4/2, silty clay, some zones also contain fine sand (with silt and clay), shell and shell hash, areas of organic fibers (22-23 cm); 0-10 cm gooky; 34-35 cm sandy, 38-38.5 cm sandy, 42-42.5 cm sandy; 50-57 cm sandy silt (46% sand, 46% silt, 8% clay); twig at 117 cm.
120-170 cm (Section 1B) - Olive gray, 5Y 4/2, 120-134 cm: silty clay with less than 10% fine sand, scattered organic fibers and small blebs. 134-170 cm: increasing percentages of fine sand, increasingly dense sediments, very fine shell hash, large scallop shells at 146 and 163 cm, piece of gravel at 160 cm.
170-256 cm (Section 2A) - olive gray, 5Y 4/2, silty, clayey fine sand, micaceous, some shell hash; large shell fragments at sharp lower contact. 211-256 cm: olive gray, 5Y 5/2, fine - medium sand, micaceous, very dense, no shell fragments (230-236 cm: 97% sand, 2% silt, 1% clay).
256-342 cm (Section 2B) - olive gray, 5Y 5/2, micaceous fine - medium sand, very dense, no shells, some organic streaks. 276-306 cm: olive gray, 5Y 4/2, fine-medium sand, micaceous, shell fragments, large shell between 285-289 cm, pebble. 306-323 cm: dark olive gray, 5Y 3/2, fine sand and silt, micaceous, no shells apparent, grades into coarser sand, gradational contact (314-320 cm: 91% sand, 5% silt, 4% clay). 323-342 cm dark olive gray, 5Y 3/2, medium - coarse sand, no shells, some gravel.
