0 - 430 cm - Dark gray, 5Y 4/1, firm, sandy (very fine) silt, with organic material 0 - 30 cm: numerous olive to brownish gray sand patches and some shell fragments 103 cm: round sand patch. 110 cm: 5 cm diameter, round wood fragment. 162 cm: sand patch. 90 - 290 cm: horizontal couplets of alternating very fine sand and silt; each layer approx. 0.5 cm thick. Layers of organic material/wood/plant fragments at 125 - 140 cm, 150 cm, 243 cm, and 287 cm. Gradational lower contact (color change only).
430 - 618 cm - Weak red, 2.5 YR 4/2, firm, sandy (very fine) silt with organic material and occasional pebbles. Grain size increases down - section to coarse sand, few pebbles and lesser amounts of silt. 550 - 618 cm: sand occurs in layers, 2 - 5 cm thick, dusky red to gray - red in color.
