WEIGHING SAMPLES FOR THE COULOMETER
Materials Required:
  • 3 Decimal Place Balance (mg)
  • 4 mL glass Wheaton Vial
  • Micro spatula
  • Methanol Squirt Bottle
  • Kimwipes
  • Data Sheet
  • Paint Pen
  • Sample
Weighing preparation; link to larger image
Place empty glass 4mL Wheaton vial on the balance without the cap and tare the balance to eliminate the vial weight. Tare an empty glass vial; link to larger image

 

Remove vial and place approximately 2mg sample into it using the micro spatula.

 

Spoon sample into vial; link to larger image

Place vial on the balance and obtain the weight of the sample.

Remove vial from balance and replace cap.
Label caps with paint pens ONLY because heat and acid will otherwise remove your label.
DO NOT label the vial itself.

Obtain weight of sample; link to larger image
