Notes: Detonations and surface effects map parameters are listed by NTS Operational Area and grouped by major testing area of the Nevada Test Site. The number of detonations are based on borehole identification number (Siteid), not on the locations of these detonations within the present-day boundaries of NTS Operational Areas. The list of detonations include (a) all underground nuclear tests, (b) 13 crater type detonations in Areas 10 (three), 18 (two), 20 (three), and 30 (five), and (c) a single high-energy, non-nuclear (TNT) detonation named "Scooter" in Area 10. Descriptions of column headings are as follows:

  • Op. Area: NTS Operation Area as listed down left side of table

  • Detonations: The number of detonations conducted within the listed testing areas and operational areas

  • Mapped: The number of detonations that were mapped for surface effects

  • Not Mapped: The number of detonations that were not mapped for surface effects

  • No SE: The number of mapped detonations where no surface effects were observed or mapped

  • SE Maps: The number of detonation-specific surface effects maps contained in the archive

  • Percent: The percentage of detonations that were mapped for surface effects including detonations with designation No SE

  • Surface Effects Map with (Sink, Crack, Fault, Pressure Ridge): For the detonations mapped for surface effects, these columns list the number of detonations that produced surface effects of the type listed. For example, 130 of the 133 mapped detonations in Area 2 produced at least a single collapse sink.
