Attributes: GIS Surface Effects Sites Database

Listed are name, description, type, and example of data contained in the surface effects sites database. Attributes related to the borehole and detonation sites are listed under the "Boreholes and Detonations" section. Attributes related to the surface effects maps are listed under the "Surface Effects Maps" section.

Status

GIS Surface Effects Map. This attribute is used to display detonation site symbols (style and color) on the surface effects maps. Values include:

(1) Mapped--Surface Effects

(2) Mapped--No Surface Effects

(3) Not Mapped.

Note: Detonations listed as “Mapped—Surface Effects” produced observable SE and a GIS SE map is included in the archive. Sites listed as “Mapped--No Surface Effects” include those detonations that produced no observable SE or only minor SE that were not formally mapped.

Surface effects

Se_map

Surface Effects Map. Was a post-detonation SE map prepared for the site?

Values include:  (1) Yes, (2) No, and (3) No SE.

Note: “Yes” is used for detonations with a status of “Mapped—Surface Effects” (as in Status item (1), above). “No” indicates that a SE map was either not prepared or not found. "No SE" indicates that no surface effects were observed or mapped for the detonation (as in Status item (2), above)

Text

Se_source

Source information about the original surface effects map that was used to prepare the GIS SE map for the detonation site. Scanned and georeferenced copies of these original maps are contained in the archive.
