Approximate Dimensions of Vertical Support Members

This figure shows the locations of the K2s relative to the VSMs under which they are located. The pipeline is 48 inches in outside diameter with a wall thickness of 0.562 inches. Each VSM is designed for a load of 60,000 lbs. (including the shoe and cross beam). The VSMs at PIPS reach to bedrock at 22 feet deep respectively. The coefficient of friction between the support beam and the sliding shoe is 0.1. All dimensions are approximate and in English units.
