Analysis of Background Residential Dust for World Trade Center Signature Components Using Scanning Electron Microscopy and X-Ray Microanalysis

SEM/EDS analyses of dust from residential units in New York City were performed to verify the presence or absence of WTC dust. Slag wool, a signature component of WTC dust, was only found in trace amounts in four of the six samples analyzed.
