Figure 8. Photo and sketch of a small frost wedge cutting from the surface completely through the sequence of surficial deposits into the weathered Kirkwood substrate. Wedge is filled with wind blown sand and sheet wash sand from the thawed surface of the coarse pebbly debris flow. Knife is 6 inches long. Only large imbricated pebbles and pebbles delineating contacts and bed forms are shown for clarity. (See location on figure 3)
